THE COMPARISON OF THE R&D INVESTMENT LOCATION ADVANTAGE BETWEEN AMERICAN AND JAPANESE MNCS IN CHINA

Abstract:Proceeded from the global competition strategy,American and Japanese MNCs maintain their investment craze for China and rank Chinese 2nd and 3rd investment powers as well.In the last few years,to make full use of the existing scientific resources,and to reduce the cost and risk of the under-research products,American and Japanese MNCs have arranged Scientific Institutions in China systematically.The two countries are sharing obvious commonness in their choices of investment location.By the comparison of the RD investment location advantage between American and Japanese MNC in China,the article propounds the corresponding suggestions and tactics to the overseas RD investment strategies.The comparison of investment location of American and Japanese MNCs in China shows that,America and Japan are the two major investment countries in Chinese RD institutions.There are two common grounds in two countries' investment location distributing.They are the preference of coastal areas and the choice of places that near universities and scientific research economic city centers.The difference is,compared with Japan's preference of Changjiang Delta,America extends from coastal areas to inland.Though both countries set up RD institutions in China,America takes the first lead with its larger investment structure and localization of its scientific research stuff.
